What is a twin-shaft stepper motor?

A twin-shaft stepper motor is a type of stepper motor with two output shafts. These motors have a rotating shaft on both sides, which offers greater flexibility in terms of connecting and driving mechanical components. One motor can be used to drive two mechanical loads, such as two parallel linear axes. The double shaft stepper motor is space-saving and reduces costs. A hand wheel can also be mounted on the second shaft end, which can be used to turn the motor by hand. There are also various possible applications for this.

First and foremost, double-shaft stepper motors are used in industry to mount double-axis drives in a space-saving manner. In classic double-axle drives, the motor is installed on the side, which often leads to space problems. In superstructures with the double-shaft stepper motor, the motor sits between the axles to avoid wasting installation space. The motor mounted on the second shaft end can be used for zero-point adjustment of a linear axis. Furthermore, with a self-locking spindle axis, a mechanism can be adjusted in the event of a power failure. This is particularly necessary for access points or doors.
