Jib cranes are an integral part of industry. They transport workpieces of all kinds - on loading ramps, processing machines and assembly stations. But failures can occur time and again. For example, when energy and data cables hanging down during the unloading of workpieces are damaged by a forklift. With the guidelok swing GLO.S, energy and data cables no longer hang in the air, but move directly in the carrier contour of the slewing crane.

How the guidelok swing GLO.S works

guidelok swing GLO.S

The lower run lies on the flange of the T-beam and is connected to the trolley. The upper run is held above the trolley with the aid of rockers, the guidelok swing elements. Rockers are bolted to the crossbar of the T-beam every 800 millimetres. When the upper run passes, the chain radius pushes the flaps of the rocker upwards and engages. In the opposite movement, the flaps open like a trapdoor and release the upper run again. The advantage: low wear and long service life, as the upper and lower runs never touch each other.

Realised in practice

The first user of the new guidance system is SEW-Eurodrive. The German manufacturer of drive technology has equipped an indoor crane at its plant in Gauteng, South Africa, with the guidelok swing. The crane moves components for chemical cleaning with a high-pressure cleaner. The user opted for the guidelok swing GLO.S. The use of the guidelok swing GLO.S has reduced the risk of accidents and increased the crane's reliability.
