In addition to the most common installation types of unsupported (FLG_)_, unsupported with sag (unsupported with permitted sag) and sliding, there are others that have a few special features. Here we present two further installation types: the projected unsupported length FLP and the unsupported lower run FLU.
We speak of a self-supporting lower run FLU as soon as the lower run of the energy chain is partially unsupported. This type of installation enables a compact design in which the working area is as close as possible to the footprint of the machine - thus saving space.
Our recommendation: For short strokes of up to 2 m, it can be an attractive alternative to create more space while maintaining the same machine dimensions.
Extensive tests make it possible to determine the additional loads of the most common energy chain series E4.1, E4Q or E2/000.
In some applications, the energy chain is often used with a working path at an angle. For example, the projected unsupported length FLP installation type is often used in construction machinery or work platforms.
