This is the world's largest laboratory for moving cables. With 3,800 m² of test space and over 800 parallel tests on 64 systems, we perform more than 2 billion double strokes a year to provide you with the highest quality technology.
The igus® business units chainflex® and readycable® develop and produce sold by the metre and cables with connectors for direct connection to electric drives. Movement through electric drives is created by converting electrical energy from the power grid or from a battery into mechanical energy. chainflex® cables are therefore the means of transporting electrical energy and thus set machines such as machine tools, robots or handling machines in motion.

In the field of drive technology, we have a large selection of high-end cables in our product portfolio. Very small bend radii in the energy chain in conjunction with long travel distances or extreme temperatures often pose major challenges for cables. Thanks to numerous tests in our test laboratory, we can provide cables for the most demanding applications and extreme conditions that fulfil the highest quality and long service life requirements.
Hybrid technology has been a trending topic for several years now. It is obvious that machine designers want to have just one cable that feeds energy to the motor and at the same time feeds the movement data, such as direction of rotation or speed or acceleration, back to the frequency inverter. In addition to the savings in installation space for cable and connector, the customer naturally also saves the costs of the additional processing of a second cable and the additional material.
We take all these advantages into account in the CF220.UL.H (with PVC-jacket) and CF280.UL.H (with PUR-jacket) cable series. The electrical core cross-section combination is constantly being expanded in order to be fully compatible with the drives of various manufacturers such as Beckhoff, SEW or Siemens. We characterise this affiliation to the manufacturer's requirements with the digit after the letter "H" in the part number. This offers our customers the advantage that, if the part number is identical from the "H" onwards, they can freely choose between PVC and PUR as the sheath material without taking any electrical risk. This can lead to considerable savings.
The topic of drive cables is currently also covered in detail in our energy management blog. There are many interesting articles about hybrid cables in particular - find out about the latest technical developments directly from the manufacturer!
