Test setup: CF9 control cable

In this test, the life expectancy of the CF9.15.18 in an e-chain® with a 100 mm radius was to be analysed.

The aim of the test was to test the service life of the chainflex® cable at extremely low temperatures. Cold-resistant cables should be used for systems in outdoor applications. This is because low temperatures are particularly hard on the material - or more precisely, the material of the outer sheath. Such conditions can be found in harbours, for example, where cables are permanently exposed to harsh environmental conditions. Seawater, large temperature differences and precipitation require the cables used to be weather and UV-resistant as well as robust.

The test in our climate container under extreme conditions showed that the expected service life of the control cable CF9.15.18 is given over a long period at -40 degrees. In other words, exactly what customers expect: reliability even in cold environments.
