Ready-to-connect AIDA extension cables for automation

The Automation Initiative of German Automobile Manufacturers (AIDA) has defined guidelines for cabling between the control cabinet, the robot base and the moving robot axes. igus® readycable® follows this standard for robot cabling in the automotive industry and now offers ready-to-connect chainflex® cables for safe use in moving applications.
We offer AIDA cable configurations with HARTING push-pull components in various chainflex® qualities from the catalogue or with individualised adaptations. In addition, our extension cables offer further savings potential as the usual connection sockets (female / female coupler) can be omitted. All ready-to-connect cables are 100 % end-tested and labelled with a test seal.

Structure of a chainflex® robot cable

In addition to high alternating bending loads, the core, stranding structures, shields and sheath materials must also compensate for changes in cable diameter caused by torsional movements. The structure of the robot cable must contain a combination of soft and sliding construction elements for the special stresses in the three-dimensional area. Filling elements are used that can absorb forces such as torsion. PTFE elements and rayon threads are used for this purpose. chainflex® robot cables also contain a special combination of PTFE sliding foils so that the torsion-optimised shield structures can perform the necessary compensating movements.
