Eight passenger boarding bridges at Cologne/Bonn Airport have been equipped with new energy chains and cables from igus®
Passenger boarding bridges are used to make the journey from the airport building to the aircraft safe and fast for passengers and to supply the aircraft with power when it is parked on the ground. To ensure that the cables for supplying the bridge control system and the aircraft continue to run safely in the future, eight bridges were rebuilt one after the other in collaboration with conveyor technology at Cologne/Bonn Airport and brought up to a modern trade show standard for the coming decades. In addition to the engineering for this telescopic solution and the components for the new cable carrier system, the Cologne-based manufacturer also supplied the on-site installation on the tarmac.
"If we need energy chain systems again for another application, we will definitely choose igus® again. Not only because of the products themselves, but also because igus® has proven to be a company close to the airport that is willing to work with us to reach our goal quickly and efficiently."
Detlev Stäbler, head of the conveyor technology department at Cologne/Bonn Airport
