University students from the Arrabona Racing Team in Hungary are building a racing car that is designed to be particularly reliable and lightweight. The components have to be extremely light in order to save as much weight as possible. It is also important that they are lubricant and maintenance-free.

The car's pedal box uses polymer plain bearings from igus®, which are around 80 per cent lighter than comparable metal bearings. The polymer bearings also enable maintenance-free dry operation without lubricants throughout the entire racing season.
