On this Yanmar mini excavator (with a Hinowa undercarriage), the weight is distributed evenly over the entire footprint via the skate wheel. Due to the harsh working conditions, however, the skate wheel structure is very susceptible to dirt, moisture and damage. plastic plain bearing bushes from the iglidur® G series were intended to provide a remedy here and replace the expensive and susceptible deep groove ball bearings. In addition to reducing costs by dispensing with regular purchased parts, the new design promises an enormously increased bearing service life. The result: the excavator has been in operation maintenance-free for several years.
The iglidur® G material is generally recommended whenever an economical all-round bearing is required that withstands extremely high loads and operates at low to medium sliding speeds. The coefficient of friction of the iglidur® G series changes analogue to the wear resistance with the load: It decreases when the load increases. The maximum permissible short-term temperature for this bearing is +220 °C, the lower application temperature is -40 °C. Although the compressive strength decreases with increasing temperatures, the permissible surface pressure under the long-term possible +130 °C is still over 40 MPa. Significant bearing wear only occurs from a temperature of +120 °C. iglidur® G bearings resist chemicals well. Most weak organic and inorganic acids cannot harm the material. They are also resistant to many lubricants.
