Turning, drilling and milling in just one clamping operation: this is the main feature of the DBF 630 machining centre. In addition, there are accuracies of 5 to 6 µm - all features not only place the highest demands on the machine tool manufacturer, but also on the component suppliers. In addition, the high-quality machines need to be assembled within a manageable time and cost framework. Pre-assembled energy supply systems come into play here. They ensure the required potential savings in process costs.
"Very high demands are placed on the availability of the machining centre in use. It usually runs 24 hours a day in production mode. All components used must be correspondingly durable. Our high-quality machines require quality products."
Stefan Nethövel, Head of Materials Management/Logistics at Dörries Scharmann Technologie GmbH
System partnership in sight
"We developed and built the DBF 630 machining centre in around seven months. We decided on individual suppliers at an early stage. And igus® was there right from the start. In my view, there are many arguments in favour of pre-assembled energy supply systems. However, the design effort must be manageable," summarises Stefan Nethövel.
When selecting suppliers, DST attaches great importance to quality and partnership. Involved in the development of the new machine, they were already able to demonstrate their capabilities during the prototype construction of the DBF 630. "With the machining centre, we are demonstrating our efficiency to our customers and offering them a high level of process and future security. Our suppliers must be able to meet this technical requirement to adapt their own processes to constantly changing requirements at all times. We have not only initiated many developments, but also expect to be able to participate in the technical expertise of our system partner at all times. In our collaboration with igus®, we have gained good experience in this respect during the development of this machining centre," concludes Stefan Nethövel, looking back on the collaboration.
