A slit lamp allows the ophthalmologist to view the various areas of the eye with up to 40x magnification. However, the technical demands on the medical device are particularly high. Not only must it be easy to move, but it must also be possible to align it with high precision. These apparently "" contradictory requirements are solved today using iglidur® J bearings, which are also used in many other medical fields. The self-lubricating bearings work reliably in the microscope arm despite constant stress over long periods of time.
"In combination with the stainless steel and brass materials used, we achieve perfect results. It is also important to us that the plain bearing material is homogeneous, so that the sliding properties are always the same, even with machined components."
