Brazil is no longer an insider tip among surfers. Endless sandy beaches, a multitude of wave formations and bays. However, Surf Evolution shows that you don't always need water to surf. The Brazilian company develops fitness training equipment that simulates movements on the board.

Too maintenance-intensive, too expensive: these are the experiences that the designers at Surf Evolution had with metal bearings in their innovative surfing fitness equipment. In the first version, the developers still favoured metal bearings. However, it quickly became apparent that the costs of the components were too high and, above all, that the maintenance of the many bearing points was far too time-consuming.

In order to realistically simulate the complex movements involved in surfing, the company relies entirely on the advantages of the iglidur® high-performance plastics. The Tribo-Poylmers from igus®, which are optimised for friction and wear, meet the expectations, particularly in terms of cost and maintenance reduction.

The training device was redesigned and the bearing technology was systematically replaced. The numerous bearing points are now equipped with iglidur® plain bearings. Lubrication- and maintenance-free drylin® spindle are now used in the load adjustment. The motion plastic specialist's drylin® W linear guides ensure smooth forwards and backwards movements of the board. This not only enables improved maintenance, but also cost savings of 70 per cent.
