The arrangement of the cables in injection moulding processes is usually locking and specifically designed for the respective application. Various media are required for effective injection moulding, including not only electricity and data, but also hydraulic and water systems. At ROBIN, for example, there are four hydraulic circuits with a total of eight hydraulic lines. In the past, Dr Stegelmann's team often used corrugated tubing for the cables, which worked well in the laboratory but no longer meets industrial requirements. The biggest problem here is operational safety: the proximity of hydraulic lines to hot water and power lines in the same hose increases the risk of failure, especially in moving systems such as robot arms. As the application developed, it became clear that a more professional solution was needed. The three-dimensional energy chain triflex® R significantly increases operational safety and is particularly suitable for robotics applications.
