From ocean plastic to motion plastic​
To manufacture the bicycle wheels, igus® uses its own machines with lubrication-free and durable igus® components. The plastic is moulded using a rotomoulding or rotational moulding process with low pressure and high temperature, which combines heat and biaxial rotation. The impellers are made from soft plastics such as polyethylene (PE). They can also be made to a large extent from recycled plastic waste such as discarded fishing nets. The aim is to turn yesterday's marine plastic into tomorrow's mobility.
