igus is a manufacturer of high-performance polymers for motion, based in Cologne (Germany). We have been developing and producing so-called motion plastics, innovative products made of lubrication-free plastics, since 1964. These include energy chains, cables, plain bearings, lead screw technology, robots and intelligent sensors that help our customers to improve their technology and reduce costs. Most products are manufactured using the injection moulding process, from which the company name is derived: igus = Industriespritzguss (industrial injection moulding).
The world is in constant motion. And where things are moving, we get involved and offer our customers new technical products: improve what moves!
This guiding principle drives us as a manufacturer. By developing products made from low-wear, high-performance plastics, we improve motion worldwide - and all of this is made in Germany. Our motion plastics are products from the fields of energy supply, cable, bearing technology, linear technology, bar stock, 3D printing, Low Cost Automation and smart plastics.
Motion is omnipresent. We see this every day when we support our customers in exciting projects. Today, we support 188,000 companies from over 80 countries around the world and from over 50 different industries.
In the automotive or packaging industry, railway or agricultural technology, in machine tool manufacturing or in the field of renewable energies, we improve what moves. Together, we strive to find the best solution for every application.
Our products made from high-performance plastics offer you a major advantage - a long service life. For you, this means that you can use your machines and applications for longer and reduce maintenance and costs with our motion plastics.
We test our products extensively in our test laboratory and provide you with the data so that you can calculate the service life of your specific product in advance. This means you can be sure that our motion plastics deliver what they promise!
As a plastics processing company, we see it as our duty to use resources sustainably and protect the environment. Our motion plastics can make an important contribution to this - in their production, during use and at the end of their service life.
Two issues in particular are very important to us: CO2 neutrality, i.e. the direct impact on the climate, and zero plastic waste, i.e. the recyclability of our products.
Recycling plays an important role in pursuing our goal of zero plastic waste, which we pursue with various measures. Technical and industrial plastic can be recycled via our recycling platform chainge and recyclates can also be bought and sold. We offer bicycles and bicycle components made from recycled plastic on our igus:bike platform. We promote the new HydroPRS technology, which enables the chemical recycling of plastic. Our apprentice company reguse is dedicated to recycling discarded electrical appliances. And of course we also offer various products made from recycled materials.
Developing and designing machines and systems with playful ease. With joy and fun at work. In a collaborative process that develops and expands creativity and technical expertise. In short: Tech up made easy - that's what enjoyneering stands for! We presented this concept at Hannover Messe 2023, which encompasses real new products and digital revolutions relating to our motion plastics. The enjoyneering is designed to enable engineers and technicians to unleash their technical potential with playful ease and break new ground in problem solving, for example with the iguverse.

Our solar system is at the centre of our culture. No, we are not talking about the planetary system here. The igus solar system is an organisational chart that reflects the way we think and act. At the centre is the customer, who is as important to us as the sun is to the earth, providing light, warmth and energy - just as the customer gives us wishes, motivation and money. It is around the customer that our colleagues and teams live and create, taking on board requirements and finding the right solutions to problems, often new products.
The success of our employees then comes from the success of our customers. As a company, it is our job to create an atmosphere for our colleagues in which they can enjoy working in the best possible way.
Our factory in Cologne is something very special. It was designed by the British architect Nicholas Grimshaw and follows our guiding principle that the customer is at the centre of everything we do. The building is supported by sun-yellow pylons that reach far into the sky and can be seen from afar. The factory has no internal walls and can be flexibly remodelled and extended.
Research on 4,000m2, an open ear for customer ideas, annual innovations at our in-house trade show IMPS (igus motion plastics show) and at many trade shows worldwide ... all this means new products for us. We want to find new solutions with our customers and implement them quickly in order to improve technology and reduce costs.
In doing so, we not only focus on current problems, but also on the challenges of the future. Today, digitalisation runs through all structures of igus, which is closely intertwined with innovation.
igus has officially signed the "Diversity Charter". In doing so, we are sending a clear signal in favour of diversity and tolerance in the world of work. We commit ourselves, our employees and partners to respectful, unprejudiced and appreciative cooperation.
We are always on the lookout for new partners who would like to work with us on a long-term basis and grow with us - whether as a supplier or as a dealer. Naturally, the customer is at the centre of our efforts, for whom we strive to find the best solution together.
