Very compact when driving, very spacious on the campsite: in a nutshell, this is the central specification of the "Zoom" caravan prototype developed and built by Ross Design GmbH. Its sleeping alcove can be extended by 1.32 metres to a total of 5.22 metres, and the caravan also offers real innovations in other respects. The spindle linear tables from the drylin® series play their part in this.
With these ideas, Ross Design wants to present caravan manufacturers with unconventional solutions for future generations of campers and show what can be achieved with modern materials and technology. Some of these ideas have to do with the intelligent use of materials. Three years ago, the company was looking for a rotary table bearing for the swivelling element of a new caravan kitchen and came across our website on the Internet. After making contact, the responsible sales representative came by, looked at what was needed and organised the components. CEO Martin Ross appreciates the quick and personalised nature of the advice, not least because the small team does not have the time to spend on purchasing and administration.
Of course, from Ross Design's point of view, it's not just the type of collaboration that "fits", but also the components themselves. Martin Ross: "The igus® products are ideal for us because they are cost-effective, corrosion-free and maintenance-free." This applies not only to the plain bearings and linear drives. Ross Design has already used energy chains from our programme in other prototypes.
We have put together a sample box of our most popular products for use in motorhomes and caravans. The box contains, among other things, plain and ball bearings, spherical plain bearings, a linear rail with carriage and various energy chains. We have also included a screwdriver and bottle opener - handy if you need them for DIY campervan conversions, for example.
