Which linear guide in handling systems?
Compact design, maintenance-free and trouble-free operation, cost-effective construction and high precision are good reasons to favour an electrically driven system in linear handling over a pneumatic handling device. However, in order to be able to utilise these advantages, the question of the linear technology to be used in the portal axes must also be answered. What is actually important when discussing the material and design of linear rails and slides?
One thing is certain: guidance plays a key role in ensuring that accuracy and reliability do not fall by the wayside with the high cycle times and working speeds.
AS-Morawski relies on the sliding linearguides from the "drylin®" product range for its NTS Ultra-Speed, as they enable very compact and completely maintenance-free handling systems. They can also be used to realise handling devices of any desired length. Their positioning accuracy is lower than that of very expensive precision guides.
However, a so-called "clearance adjustment system" guarantees a clearance-free guide system with positioning accuracies of +/- 0.1 mm.
Specifically, drylin® R, drylin® W, drylin® T and drylin® N guide systems are used in AS-Morawski's handling devices.
The most important design feature of the systems: In contrast to the familiar recirculating ball bearing systems, the drylin® linear guides operate on special sliding elements. These are mostly made of the material iglidur® J, which has advantages in the application due to its special wear and friction properties.
Customer testimonials - What does the customer say?
"Based on our many years of experience, we can confirm that the igus®-guidance is well suited for handling technology. As part of our product range, we have used and tested them for all applications in mechanical engineering. In at least 75 per cent of all cases, they can replace steel recirculating ball bearing guides. When it comes to being 100 per cent maintenance-free, drylin® is unrivalled."
