In the automotive industry in particular, whether linear, portal or industrial robots travelling on the 7th axis, a reliable, fast and safe energy and data supply is always required. For maximum reliability in applications with high speeds and cycle numbers, igus® has now developed plane-chain, a new type of energy chain system for automation. In the new concept, an energy chain is guided flat on its side in the special trough. The advantage here is that the designer saves space thanks to the low installation height.

The convex trough shape of the trough allows the E6 series energy chain to travel safely in two recessed channels. With its low friction factor, the stainless steel trough ensures a long service life for the energy chain. A special plastic insulating layer can be used on the outside of the channel to provide additional noise insulation for the system. Thanks to the lightweight components, the energy chain solution can be easily mounted under the ceiling of gantry robots, for example.
