Volkswagen Wolfsburg relies on 12 individual stations for metal, pneumatics, 3D printing, electrics, robotics, PLC and visualisation for the practice-oriented training of new specialists
In the apprenticeship program at Volkswagen AG in Wolfsburg, trainees from a wide range of disciplines are working on the simulation of a vehicle delivery of the VW Golf on a scale of 1:18.
The "Smart Factory" consists of twelve individual stations which, when pushed together, form two parallel production lines. The Golf production is simulated, starting at the press plant and continuing through body construction, paint shop, wedding, assembly and vehicle delivery.
In the production simulation, particular attention is paid to ensuring that the drive mechanism is clearly visible and that an electrical solution is found instead of the former pneumatic solution. The slide was made from transparent Makrolon so that the movement could be followed precisely.
