Reliable field sprayers thanks to e-chain®

Compact, flexible and robust energy chain in agricultural field sprayers

The cables, whether electric or hydraulic, are guided in this agricultural application with an e-chain®. The field sprayers are used for fertilisation and pest control, and their booms can be folded out and moved. As field work is usually dirty, the cables need to be protected from dirt and mud encrustations. Depending on the size of the field sprayer, the manufacturer uses four different types of our polymer-energy chain, which have been doing their job reliably since the first day of use.

Problem

The Bury Agricultural Machines Company is a Polish-based manufacturer of equipment for agricultural machinery. Among other things, the company sells towed field sprayers that spray fertilisers or pesticides in a targeted manner on the field. A suitable solution for routing the electrical and hydraulic cables was sought for the fold-out and mobile field sprayers. The particular challenges for the cable routing in this agricultural application were mainly due to the high volume of dirt and possible mud incrustations on all components of the boom. All power and signal cables must also be protected from the chemical spray liquids.

Solution

Today, the manufacturer uses our polymer energy chain, which guarantees cable routing from the moving spray heads to the frame. All cables are thus organised and bundled in a single energy chain and therefore in a compact and safe guide space. Depending on the size of the field sprayer, Bury uses four different types of e-chain®, which guarantee the different space requirements for the different numbers of cables used. The solution now enables a significant extension of the service life of all hydraulic and electric cables. From the moment the plastic-energy chain was introduced, the percentage of faults identified by farmers and related to the wiring of machines has been significantly reduced.
