Flammability of plastic in aircraft cabins:
What standards and requirements apply?
Plastic used in aircraft interiors must fulfil high fire protection requirements. There are general and industry-specific regulations as well as manufacturer-specific specifications. For the designer who develops seats, partition walls, galleys or other components for the aircraft cabin, for example, there are no restrictions. They have access to highly resilient lightweight materials made of engineered plastic that fulfil all relevant industry and manufacturer-specific fire protection requirements.
