Room linear robot for maintenance-free cleaning system of camping toilet tanks

About the automatic cleaning machine:
The Camping Butler from W+F Engineering GmbH is used as a fully automatic cleaning system for faeces tanks on campsites. For cleaning, the camping toilet cassette is closed and inserted into the Camping Butler. The selection of the programme via a touch display enables simple operation for the user. Inside the Camping Butler is a drylin® room gantry robot that turns, empties and cleans the cassette. The key point: all components from igus® are lubricant-, maintenance- and corrosion-free and are therefore ideal for the hygienic cleaning system.

Emptying camping cassettes is an odour-intensive and unpleasant task. In addition, cleaning and filling the cassettes with water poses a further challenge for any automation solution, as machine elements must be particularly corrosion-free. For the investment in fully automatic cleaning systems on campsites to pay off, the automation solution must amortise quickly and at the same time be safe, durable and maintenance-free.

Inside the Camping Butler is a tray into which the cassette is inserted manually. Once the cassette has been inserted, the side walls of the tray adjust to the waste-holding tank with the help of two precision shafts mounted on bearings, so that the cassette is fixed in the tray. Furthermore, e-chain® ensures a safe energy supply. A drylin® room linear robot with two Z-axes is mounted on the tank itself. This complete system is supplied and assembled with motors, coupling and encoders. It consists of two drylin® ZLW toothed belt axes, one ZLW cantilever axis and two ZLW Z-axes. The slides of the linear guide are equipped with lubrication-free sliding elements that ensure precise guidance.
 
Fully automatic and simple operation Once the faeces tank has been inserted, the lid of the cassette is unscrewed and opened using a gripper mounted on one of the Z-axes of the gantry. Connected to the second Z-axis, an attachment is placed on the opening of the cassette through which water is filled. A gear rotates the tray and the gantry through 180 degrees to empty and rinse the contents of the cassette. The gear returns the tub to its original position, the flap opens and the camper can remove the cleaned cassette.
