iglidur® H1 plain bearings have been specially developed for use under extreme environmental conditions. Their strengths are their extremely high wear resistance and excellent friction values, even in applications in which the bearing is exposed to high temperatures or aggressive media. iglidur® H1 plain bearings can be used completely lubrication-free; when used in wet areas, the surrounding medium can act as an additional lubricant.
The maximum recommended surface pressure is a mechanical material parameter. No conclusions can be drawn about the tribology. The compressive strength of iglidur® H1 plain bearings decreases with increasing temperatures. diagram. 02 illustrates this relationship.
diagram. 03 shows the elastic deformation of iglidur® H1 under radial load. Among the iglidur® H materials, iglidur® H1 is the material with the greatest flexibility. This must be taken into account for applications with high surface pressures or edge loads.
Due to the excellent coefficient of friction, sliding speeds of up to 2 m/s are possible with iglidur® H1 plain bearings in dry operation. Linear speeds of up to 5 m/s can be realised. The speeds given in Table 02 are limit values for the lowest bearing loads. At higher loads, the permissible speed decreases with the load due to the limitations of the pv value.

iglidur® H1 is a very temperature-resistant material. The temperatures prevailing in the bearing system also have an influence on the bearing wear. The wear increases with rising temperatures. Especially with iglidur® H1, however, this increase is very low. Additional protection is required at temperatures higher than +80 °C.

The coefficient of friction as well as the wear resistance changes with increasing load and surface speed (diagram. 04 and 05).

diagrams 06 and 07 show an extension of the results of tests with different shaft materials, which were carried out with plain bearings made of iglidur® H1 in the igus® laboratory.
Bearings made of iglidur® H1 show excellent wear behaviour in combination with a wide variety of shaft materials in both rotation and swivel operation. On 304 SS shafts in particular, iglidur® H1 achieves very low wear rates in both rotation and swivelling operation. Even on hard-coated aluminium shafts, iglidur® H1 plain bearings have a long service life in rotating applications with low to medium loads.
iglidur® H1 plain bearings have good resistance to chemicals. Therefore, even chemicals can act as a lubricant. iglidur® H1 plain bearings are not resistant to hot, oxidising acids and some other particularly aggressive chemicals.

iglidur® H1 plain bearings have good resistance to chemicals. Therefore, even chemicals can act as a lubricant. iglidur® H1 plain bearings are not resistant to hot, oxidising acids and some other particularly aggressive chemicals.
Resistant up to a radiation intensity of 2 x102 Gy.
iglidur® H1 bearings are only partially resistant to UV radiation. Under the influence of the weather, the surface of iglidur® H1 becomes rougher and wear increases. Therefore, the use of iglidur® H1 plain bearings that are directly exposed to the weather must be checked on a case-by-case basis.
When used in a vacuum, it must be taken into account that the water components - even if only small - outgas. Use in a vacuum is generally possible.
iglidur® H1 plain bearings are electrically insulating.

The moisture absorption of iglidur® H1 bearings is approx. 0.1% by weight in a normal climate. The saturation limit in water is 0.3% by weight. Therefore, iglidur® H1 is very well suited for use in wet environments.

iglidur® H1 plain bearings are press-fit bushings for shafts with h-tolerance (recommended minimum h9).
The bearings are designed to be pressed into an H7-toleranced mounting. After installation in a mounting with nominal dimensions, the inner diameter of the bearing with F10 tolerance adjusts itself automatically. For certain dimensions, the tolerance deviates depending on the wall thickness (see product range).
