trapezoidal threads according to DIN103 (TR18x4) are tolerated with up to -0.3 mm on the outer diameter. Excessive radial play can lead to unpleasant noises and vibrations.
Our dryspin® technology guarantees a maximum undersize of -0.1 mm with the same diameter and identical pitch. We improve the outer diameter tolerance by a factor of 3 and thus optimise smooth running and precision, especially at high speeds.
Our evaluation of the wear test for the 10x3 stainless steel dimension shows clear results. The dryspin® steep thread Ds10x3 achieves up to 25 % lower wear rates, up to 30 % longer service life and significantly higher straight lines of action compared to the trapezoidal thread Tr10x3 and the competition.
The rounded tooth flanks and tighter manufacturing tolerances of the dryspin® thread geometry reduce the possible noise-causing contact surface between the lead screw nut and the spindle.
This is because the greater the contact between two surfaces moving against each other, the more vibrations are transmitted, which are perceived as rattling or squeaking. This means that higher travel speeds can be realised without causing corresponding noise.
Lubrication is essential for metal lead screw nuts, otherwise metallic abrasion will occur. The abrasion can block the entire system and quickly bring the application to a standstill without appropriate maintenance. The lubrication- and maintenance-free drylin® lead screws are the perfect alternative to conventional metal lead screws.
With our drylin® lead screw nut made from iglidur® high-performance polymers, you don't need a single drop of lubricant. Thanks to the self-lubricating effect, maintenance is reduced to a minimum. Particles such as dust and fibres can adhere much less easily due to the dry operation. This leads to a significant increase in service life in dirty environments compared to conventional, lubricated solutions.
Thanks to the larger distances between the individual dryspin® threads, the thread adapts ideally to the specification of the lubrication-free igus® high-performance polymers. The proportion of tribologically optimised polymers in the threads can be increased by a factor of 1.3 for all sizes.
More wear-resistant material and a higher degree of efficiency are decisive for a service life that is up to 5 times longer than standard thread geometries.
