We guarantee our cables for up to 4 years with confidence, as we can make reliable predictions about the service life of our cables based on over 30 years of experience in our 3,800 m² test laboratory and 700 parallel tests.

Why chainflex® warranty?
The new warranty service gives you the security of knowing that your individual application has been designed exactly right and that you are always choosing the right chainflex® cable that is sure to work.

When does the lifetime guarantee apply?
The chainflex® service life guarantee is valid for the calculated number of double strokes according to the igus® online service life calculator, up to a maximum of 4 years after the delivery date, whichever comes first. The warranty applies to all chainflex® cables that can be selected in the service life calculator.

When is there a warranty claim?
A warranty claim exists if the chainflex® cable supplied is demonstrably not free from material and manufacturing defects.
Specifically, this means that the chainflex® cable wears out before the end of the warranty period or the guaranteed number of double strokes due to natural wear and tear during normal use.

When is there no warranty claim?
Mechanical damage and damage caused by incorrect installation or improper use of the cable invalidates the warranty.

When does the guarantee start?
The warranty applies to new purchases from 15 February 2020, starting from the delivery date of the chainflex® cable.

When does the warranty end?
The warranty ends at the end of the 4 years, starting from the date of delivery.

What is the exact scope of the warranty?
Warranty claims must be made to igus® GmbH immediately after discovery. For the specified warranty period, igus® will supply a replacement free of charge (delivery ex works). This only applies to igus® chainflex® components that have failed due to wear.

Is the warranty extended by a replacement delivery?
The warranty period is not extended by a replacement delivery.

Is there a warranty on the e-chain® used?
We also offer a 36-month warranty on the e-chain® used. Further information

In which countries does the chainflex® warranty apply?
The chainflex® warranty is valid internationally. The issuing authority is igus® GmbH, regardless of the country in which you request the warranty certificate via the service life calculator.

We are aware of this, but thanks to our many years of experience and expertise, we can guarantee manufacturers valuable planning security. Intensive tests in the world's largest test laboratory for cable and energy chain allow us to make valid and reliable statements about durability and service life - also in terms of liability.

The promise of a guarantee to the end customer goes far beyond mandatory warranty claims or liability for defects. The customer not only receives a promise from the company that the goods will be free of defects, but also that they will function for a certain period of time.

The durability guarantee is what matters. This is of great importance to customers, as a binding statement on durability provides predictable security. Simply extending the warranty is usually not enough.
The chainflex® guarantee provides you with reliable data from the laboratory and in practice!

The chainflex® guarantee is subject to the operating conditions applicable to the respective cable family. These are made up of parameters such as temperature, type of movement, torsion, media influence and bend radius. The guarantee is valid for up to 4 years or 100 million double strokes, whichever comes first. The number of double strokes covered by the guarantee depends on the type of installation and the cable quality. This is described in the current catalogue, in the data sheets and in the service life calculator.

In this table you will find the technical parameters of the chainflex® CF9 control cable. If the cable is used in accordance with the specified operating conditions, a user-related service life guarantee of 5, 7.5 or 10 million double strokes applies. The service life itself can be significantly longer.

Let's assume you are using a cable with a diameter of 12 mm in an energy chain with a radius of 100 mm. This results in a bending factor of 8.3 (100 mm/12 mm). To obtain a statement about the durability, you need the information from the technical framework conditions (temperature and number of double strokes). Assuming a temperature range of -25/ +90 °C) with 8 x d, the effective bending factor is above the minimum limit of 7. 10 million double strokes are guaranteed! At higher or lower temperatures, the required factor for this guarantee level would be 8.5, reducing the number of double strokes to a guaranteed 7.5 million strokes.

UL verified: chainflex® receives highest recognition from globally respected testing organisation
igus® is the first German company to have the promise for chainflex®-cable validated. In a complex certification process, the US institute "Underwriters Laboratories" confirmed the accuracy of the statement "igus® 4-year chainflex® cable guarantee and service life calculator based on 2 billion test cycles per year". This makes the Cologne-based company the first in Europe to have the veracity of an advertising claim confirmed by a testing institution. In future, no chainflex® cable will leave the factory anywhere in the world that is not labelled with the UL marketing label with its unique number B129699, which refers to igus®.

A total of 1044 of the more than 1350 cables in the portfolio and available from stock already have classic UL approval. This is a prerequisite for the smooth commissioning of a system in the USA. The export of systems to America will therefore run smoothly. The combination of UL approval and UL marketing label now doubly ensures smooth export.
