Transporting earth from pits up to 65 metres deep: This is made possible by a pulley block module from the French company Ets Payant, which is attached under the boom of an excavator. All components have to withstand the effects of weather, dust and heavy impacts. The designers therefore use igubal W300 double spherical plain bearings, iglidur P flange mounted bearings, iglidur G thrust washers and drylin R aluminium shafts.
The pulley block module is designed for a conventional 40 tonne hydraulic excavator and consists of a winch module and a hose reel. It weighs just under 7 tonnes and is attached to the excavator boom using a quick coupling system. There is also the deflection roller module, which is also attached to the end of the bucket of the shovel with a quick coupling system.
The excavator with pulley block module is used, for example, in the construction of underground railway lines that run underneath the existing underground railway network. It is therefore used in urban areas and must therefore be as compact and easy to transport as possible. In fact, the dimensions in the transport position with the hose reels folded in are identical to those of the conventional excavator.
With its grab, the excavator can transport large quantities of earth from the underground tunnels and load 5 tonnes of material in one go. The loads and forces acting on the machine are therefore considerable. Added to this are the weather, strong vibrations and dust. The operating conditions for all components are therefore demanding.
