Examples of successful stage technology applications

The multi-purpose hall at Hungexpo in Budapest is a huge auditorium with rows of seats on 43 platforms that can be moved flexibly. For the complex cable routing and the numerous cables, those responsible brought the igus® project team on board and relied on our E4 and E2 e-chains as well as chainflex® control, data and bus cables.

State-of-the-art trade show equipment is moved safely in this modern event hall in a prestigious area of Moscow. To ensure that the complex and specific cabling can be moved safely over long distances up to the hall ceiling, it is transported in a plastic-energy chain that winds and unwinds compactly on an e-spool.

In theatres, operas or on cruise ships, the stage technology specialist Waagner-Biro Stage Systems has been developing innovative technical systems for major performances for over 150 years. To safely move heavy loads such as acoustic and lighting systems, stage sets or entire stage platforms, the designers rely on our smooth-running energy chains - the E4 series, e-spool and the zig-zag system.

In the Cologne Opera House, e-spools and zig-zag systems are also used in the podium pit to provide energy, data and hydraulics for moving the stage platforms. They are cost-effective and can be installed in confined spaces thanks to their compact design.

Ten e-spool® systems, equipped with robust chainflex® control cables, are used on the movable lighting trusses of the congress and cultural centre in Toruń, Poland. Mounted on the lacing floor, the compact system operates quietly and invisibly.

Three camera robots are suspended from the ceiling of the tagesschau studio and realise camera flights with smooth movements and maximum precision. Smooth running, low vibration and wear resistance are the main requirements for the energy chain to guide the extensive cable packages. E6 chains and chainflex® control cables are used.

SBS Bühnentechnik relies on drylin® W-linear guides for the stage lifting device in the Konzerthaus Berlin. Equipped with heavy-duty supported shafts, the guides not only operate quietly and with low vibration, but are also practically maintenance-free thanks to the dry-running plastic gliding elements in the linear carriage.
