Table 01: Material properties
iglidur® HSD350 was specially developed for use in applications where decontamination by superheated steam (e.g. in autoclaves) is necessary. Here, iglidur® HSD350 offers an outstanding price-performance ratio.
Mechanical specification
The compressive strength of iglidur® HSD350 plain bearings decreases with increasing temperatures. diagram. 02 illustrates this relationship. The maximum recommended surface pressure represents a mechanical material parameter. Conclusions about the tribology cannot be drawn from this.
diagram. 03 shows the elastic deformation of iglidur® under radial load. Under the maximum recommended surface pressure of 30 MPa, the deformation is less than 2 %. Possible plastic deformation depends, among other things, on the duration of the impact.
Friction and wear
The coefficient of friction increases slowly and evenly over the speed, but remains below 0.3 μ up to a speed of 2.0 m/s.
Shaft materials
Diagrams 05 and 06 show an extension of the results of tests with different shaft materials, which were carried out with plain bearings made from iglidur® HSD350. At 0.3 m/s and 1 MPa surface pressure, a wide variety of shafts are suitable and deliver good wear results. Hard anodised aluminium, free cutting steel, hard chrome plated Cf53, 304 SS and high grade steel show low bearing wear.
