The plain bearings from iglidur® UW500 have been developed for underwater applications with higher temperatures. Examples include water pumps in automotive engineering, but also medical technology and related areas. The information in this chapter describes iglidur® UW500 in dry operation, unless underwater operation is expressly stated.
Mechanical specification
The maximum recommended surface pressure is a mechanical material parameter. Conclusions about the tribology cannot be drawn from this. The compressive strength of iglidur® UW500 bearings decreases with increasing temperatures. diagram. 02 illustrates this relationship.

friction and wear
diagram. 04 and 05 show the coefficient of friction of iglidur® UW500 plain bearings as a function of the sliding speed and the load. friction and wear are also highly dependent on the mating partner. Ground surfaces with an average surface finish Ra of 0.1 to 0.4 are ideal.
