Permissible sliding speeds
iglidur® G was developed for low to medium sliding speeds; the maximum values specified in Table 02 can only be achieved at low pressure loads. At the specified speeds, friction can lead to an increase up to the limit of the permanently permissible temperature. In practice, these limit values cannot always be achieved due to the interaction of different fluids.
m/s | Rotating | Oscillating | linear |
---|---|---|---|
permanent | 1 | 0.7 | 4 |
Short-term | 2 | 1.4 | 5 |
Like the wear resistance, the coefficient of friction μ also changes with the load and the surface speed (diagram. 04 and 05).
coefficient of friction for iglidur® G against steel (Ra = 1 μm, 50 HRC):
iglidur® G | dry | Greases | Oil | Water |
---|---|---|---|---|
Coefficients of friction µ | 0.08 - 0.15 | 0.09 | 0.04 | 0.04 |
Friction and wear are also highly dependent on the mating partner. Shafts that are too smooth increase both the coefficient of friction and the wear of the bearing. For iglidur® G, a ground surface with an average surface finish Ra = 0.8 μm is best suited. diagram. 06 shows an extension of the results of tests with different shaft materials that were carried out with iglidur® Gplain bearings. It is important to note that the recommended hardness of the shaft increases with increasing load. The "soft" shafts are more prone to self-wear and thus increase the wear of the overall system. If the load exceeds 2 MPa, it must be taken into account that the wear rate (the curve gradient) tends to decrease with the hardness of the shaft material. If the shaft material you intend to use is not included in the test results presented here, please contact us.
Shaft materials
iglidur® G-plain bearings are standard bearings for shafts with h-tolerance (recommended minimum h9). The bearings are designed to be pressed into an H7-toleranced mounting. After installation in a mounting with nominal dimensions, the inner diameter of the bearing with E10 tolerance adjusts itself. For certain dimensions, the tolerance deviates depending on the wall thickness (see product range)

chemical resistance iglidur® Gbearingshave good resistance to chemicals at room temperature. They are resistant to most lubricants. Most weak organic and inorganic acids do not attack iglidur® G.
Radioactive radiation plain bearings made of iglidur® G are resistant to radiation up to a radiation intensity of 3 -102Gy.
UV resistance iglidur® Gplain bearings are permanently resistant to UV radiation.
Vacuum In a vacuum, iglidur® Gbearings degas. Use in a vacuum is only possible for dry bearings
Electrical specification iglidur® Gbearings are electrically insulating.
